Jobs and Economy

This district has always been known for its hard-working people -- from factory workers to small-business owners -- Pennsylvanians make up the backbone of America’s economy. Protecting good-paying jobs and creating new ones has always been one of Tim’s top priorities. He will continue to work everyday to keep jobs in our district, foster economic growth, and spur job creation.

Tim is a strong opponent of trade deals that export American jobs, like NAFTA, Most Favored Nation Trade status for China, and the World Trade Organization. Bad trade deals have cost Pennsylvania over 142,000 jobs. Tim is a proponent of fair trade, not free trade.

Ranked as one of the top 15 most conservative Democrats in the House by the National Journal and a member of the Blue Dog Coalition, Tim is a supporter of reasonable tax cuts, and is a long time advocate for fiscal responsibility and balancing the federal budget.

Healthcare

Out of control health care costs are hurting our businesses, putting jobs on the line, and driving working families into debt. Tim is fighting to provide affordable, quality health care to Pennsylvanians who need it without putting our economy in jeopardy.

Seniors

Tim will fight to ensure that Social Security is guaranteed for our seniors, and that they have access to Medicare benefits. We have an obligation to protect these vital safety nets for the hardworking men and women who have given us so much. 

Tim has been a champion for a real Medicare prescription drug bill under Medicare. He opposed the drug companies' bill that would have placed seniors in the hands of private insurance companies.

Tim is a strong supporter of protecting the Social Security Trust Fund. He Opposes efforts to privatize Social Security with "individual accounts" that would make seniors subject to the whims of the stock market.

Protecting The Second Amendment

As an avid hunter, Tim has always believed in an individual’s freedom to keep and bear arms as guaranteed in the Second Amendment. He has always supported the rights of law-abiding gun owners while pushing for strong punishment for criminals who use guns to commit crimes.

Rural

Rural communities like those in our district face unique challenges and therefore deserve unique solutions. Tim believes that rural communities shouldn’t miss out on economic opportunities due to lack of infrastructure, and supports allocating funds to improve rural roads and communications.
